This story is about a boy called Paul Baum who cheats on his girlfriend and tells her himself what he has done. The girl he cheated on Mary Wells aka "The Virgin Mary" goes missing and Paul aka "Paulie" has to try and find her. Mr Logsdon aka "Logs" takes the P.8 kids out to find Mary when Hannah reveals she picked Mary up the night before and so the search is called off. Mary is found but then goes missing again but this time Paulie gets a message from Mary which puts Paulie, Logs and Hannah all in danger. This message is then taken to the police and forwarded to the officers phone. Paulie and Logs go swimming with Hannah towing them behind when they see people searching his car and realise that they are looking for something. They take Logs's car and go to the U when they get ramed. Hannah runs home leaving Paulie and Logs. They sneak though the trees back to the lake burying their clothes on the way and swim through the lake. After hitting a raft, Logs tells Paulie to swim the rest of the way. He does and when he gets to safety he calls Justin over, he gets under a blanket and into Justin's car and using a mates phone he rings Hannah but she doesn't answer. Paulie, Justin and a few others get Logs out of the water to a waiting ambulance then set off to find Hannah. Paulie goes in on own through an open window to find that Arney has shot Hannah's dad and is dragging her towards the door. He follows them outside before running towards Arney and whacking to gun out of his hand. A neighbor pins him down until the police arrive and the town is safe again.

I t proves that not everyone is who they seem (Arney and the cop act as nice people but are bad) and to be very cautious .
