Title: “Slide the corner”
Writer: Fleur Beale
Text Type: Novel
Date Read: 12th May 2012
Personal Response:
I enjoyed the novel ‘Slide the corner’ because I identified with Greg. Greg doesn’t like school because his parents made him repeat Year 11.
One part of the story I enjoyed was when Greg meets the Chatterton’s and gets interested in rally driving. He learns all the rules about rallying, like when he has to put out a triangle to warn other drivers that their car is off the road. The detail of how this sport works was interesting.
Another aspect of the novel I enjoyed was how the author developed Greg’s changing relationship with his parents. At first Greg’s parents don’t like changes in him, but they begin to see that he is doing what he really enjoys and that he has become a really good driver. This showed me that it is a good idea to persist with things you have a passion for because you will usually win people over.
