Alfie comes from a very wealth family. But he has a very serious problem, he can't sleep. His father sent him to Scarbrook House to Dr Grenfell to help cure Alfie of his insomnia. Things, strange things, start to happen during the night; Perkins, a fellow room mate sleep-walks, Scrapers appear - looking for a fiend, Yardley sees it all and knows what the spirit world tells him. Yardley's mute sister hears and sees everything and discovers Perkins' eyes and tie in the lake. Alfie and his friend Travers, rebury the coffin of young Richard Harker, who hung himself before Alfie arrived at Scarbrook House. But who are the Scrapers really after? And what did the letter Alfie's father write to Dr Grenfell say? So who is safe? Are the people at Scarbrook House really who they are? The question still remains though, does Alfie find a cure for his insomnia? And what happens Below Stairs? This book is a fast-paced, can't-put-it-down, psychological - Dr Jeckyll & Mr Hyde thriller - kind of book. The story line makes you feel you're right there amongst it all. I REALLY enjoyed reading this story, Tom Becker has added me to his list of faithful readers if he writes with this much intensity in his other books. If you like stories with twists and turns, this is definitely a book you should read! I dare you to! This book is about Matthiu and how he became the happiest man in the world. It also explains how your brain works for example; like riding a bike. If you turn left you tend to turn right, when you turn around a corner and your mind tells you to turn back into the same way. It also talks about meditation and visualisation. In the book it tells you to pretend to be your favourite mountain e.g. Mt Everest and how it stays still and calm that is what you are supposed to do it when you meditate. Some people asked the monks if they should meditate with their eyes open or with them closed. They replied that there are many advantages and disadvantages to using both techniques, the choice is totally up to you. The only reason I chose this book is because the title captured my mind so I can learn how to master it in one hundred minutes and how to meditate to be a calm positive person and have a better personality. I recommend this book for you guys if you are interested in meditation or visualisation. It will help you to become a positive and calm person when you use the tool in this book. Fiona woke up in her house four years in the future, as a Ten and on the wrong side of the wall. She has a tattoo on her right hand, and it's changed her whole world. The bees died out, genetically modified bees were developed to replace the real ones, but the modified bee stings caused people to develop flu symptoms and die. A vaccine was created through the form of a sleep-induced coma. Some people survived with little changes, others didn't do so well, and became beast mutants - hunted mutants. The tattoo was once a sign of a cure for the bee flu virus, in the barren world it brands her a violent beast; each of its ten lines warning others of her strength. But she is normal ... She has to fit to survival, for herself, her brother, Jonah and her boyfriend, Dreyden Bowen a soldier of the new world. I found this story to better than The Hunger Games, it's fast-paced, exciting and well written. I found it difficult to put down. A great story - A MUST READ! Looking forward to CURE coming out in 2014! Todd has just journeyed all the way from Prentisstown to Haven where he hoped he and Viola would be safe. But it turns out that the very army he ran from got to Haven before him. They ran right into a city that surrendered to the menacing army. With the mayor now in control of Haven (newly named New Prentisstown) he splits Todd and Viola up. Todd has to work with Davy Prentiss (the mayor's son, the very person who shot Viola). Viola then gets caught up in a rebellion and Todd begins to learn to use his noise as a weapon. When they finally reunite they bring down the mayor. Although not all is peaceful as the rebellion Viola storms into town with bombs (after the smaller attacks and raids), the mayor's army is in disarray and a huge army of spackle are invading. Todd and Viola re right in the middle of it. This is and awesome series that I whole heartedly recommend to everyone. Although I recommend reading the first book ' The Knife Of Never Letting Go', first (so that 'The Ask and the Answer makes more sense). Goliath is the third in the Leviathan Series. With both Clankers (nations who use stem machines) and Darwinists (nations who mix species) at war, Alek (secret prince of Austria, Hungary) resolves to stop the war. He believes providence guides him and that it is his destiny to bring about peace. With the world's greatest Darwinist airship (the Leviathan) at his back and his best friend Dylan/Deryn share (who is holding a gigantic secret) he travels from Europe to Russia to Japan to New York. All along the way seeing and fighting incredible things in extremely daring situations. When Alek learns of a weapon strong enough to destroy cities he throw all his support behind it believing it could bring peace. Thes book is based loosely on World War I and Alek helps to bring America into the war. I recommend this book to all ages, it is a truly magnificent book about alternate history. I seriously recommend reading the two books before it: The Leviathan and Behemoth. See the book trailers on the series in our Book Trailer Blog It's set in 1941 and there's secret organisations everywhere. This story is about a young girl who is ripped from everything she has known and is transported by cattle trucks from familiar Lithunania to remote Siberia. The conditions are horrific, the genocide unseen and thousands of innocent people's lives are lost. This story is very moving and dramatic. It's an excellent read on all accounts. This book is about a boy, Fleance. He is the only son to a powerful Lord. He has been plagued by his father's gost for ten years and he finally decides that he must take action. Fleance must unmask his enemies and discover why his father's ghost haunts him; so that he can finally settle down in life. I recommend this book to people who love action. Thrill seekers follow the life of three individual boys. Brian, Douggie (Brian's younger brother) and Beck. They call themselves The Oxley Creek Boys. In the beginning a tragic event changes the boys for ever. Though they live happily enough on sex, drink and drugs. But it's all catching up with them especially Brian. This book is a great take on reality and I reco A Book Review Outline
