Deception is a story about a girl named Emma who can see ghosts because she is a Ghostkeeper that can make ghosts do what she wants like communicate, compe3l and dismiss the ghosts if she doesn't want to talk to them. "How can I not be afraid of ghosts? They're all haunty and ghoulish, right? And Bennett, why are you taking this seriously?" "You're a Ghostkeeper, Emma."

Emma's strongest reaction is that she can see ghosts and Bennett is acting like he doesn't know what she is talking about. "I see ghost!" I blurted. He nodded. "Yeah, you told me."
